About Belinda Colozzi:

I am a multi-media artist working and living in Oro Valley, Arizona. I graduated from Texas Woman's University in spring of 1992 with a BFA in illustration and design.  I taught for a few years shortly after my graduation and was inspired to go back to  school to receive a Master’s in Bilingual Education from Southern Methodist University in Fall of 1996.  I decided to go back into the art world and leave teaching in 2000.  Creating art was ultimately the only career that was truly satisfying and fulfilling for me at the time.  As an artist I see myself as a story teller creating slices of life through my art work. My art work is an ongoing narrative of my observations of life, people, and feelings. I have always been fascinated with finding new ways of depicting emotions through my use of line and movement.  Line, movement, and color allow me to express feelings that sometimes are even difficult for me to understand. The expressive use of line through out my extensive body of artwork is a main element of cohesion throughout.  I work fast and sometimes I have several pieces developing at the same time.  My favorite media is acrylic because it dries fast and allows me to work at a pace I’m comfortable with.  Creating art work is like a puzzle that I am constantly trying to solve.  The moment I complete “the piece of the puzzle” and finish an artwork is exhilarating and undeniably a key reason I keep creating.
